The Guangdong Provincial Engineering Research Center for Ophthalmic Drug Development and Evaluation is co-founded by the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University (the sole supporting unit of China's only State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology) and Lewwin Pharm (a leading enterprise in drug evaluation research in South China). It is established in response to the strategic needs of the ophthalmic drug industry. By integrating the strengths of both parties’ key technology platforms in areas such as ophthalmic drug R&D, pilot-scale studies, pharmacodynamics, toxicology, pharmacokinetics, clinical research, and application, the Center aims to build an internationally oriented comprehensive ophthalmic drug development platform. This initiative seeks to enhance Guangdong Province’s innovation and R&D capabilities in ophthalmic drug research, as well as its comprehensive drug development capacity, thereby advancing the growth of the national pharmaceutical industry.
